Enabling the creation of a NewSpace ecosystem in Sweden

Space West is a strategic collaboration platform designed to support the development of a more commercially-oriented space sector in Sweden - that will in turn contribute to both economic growth and national security.

A primary focus of the platform is to create the necessary pre-conditions to enable the development of a domestic ecosystem focused on the commercial utilization of space and associated dual-use applications.

The objective is to foster collaboration among like-minded entities and individuals who wish to actively participate in evolving the Swedish space sector to become more commercially relevant and technologically competitive.

The primary focus of this initial *Prox-Ops* gathering will be to formally introduce the Space West collaborative platform and its planned activities - and for the platform to begin gathering suggestions from the community regarding potential topics of importance.

Following the introductory presentation there will also be an open Q&A session, to help provide attendees with a more detailed understanding of how they can support and/or get involved.

Prox-what?   Explaining the name...

"Prox-Ops" is a common abbreviation for Proximity Operations, which refers to the process whereby a spacecraft intentionally maneuvers in close proximity to (and/or physically interacts with) another space object - such as a satellite, space station or celestial body.

Acknowledging how incredibly important (orbital) Prox-Ops will be to enabling the development of a sustainable in-space economy, we also strongly believe that close proximity interactions/collaborations here on Earth are an essential pre-requisite to enabling the development of a self-sustaining NewSpace ecosystem.

In the spirit of enabling these essential interactions, the Space West *Prox-Ops* events will bring like-minded people together (i.e., in close proximity to each other) and encourage them to discuss their aspirations and challenges - in relation to helping strengthen Sweden's position in NewSpace going forward.

Location & Schedule

This event will be held at International House, located near Järntorget.

The formal presentation will begin at 15:30, but please feel free to arrive a bit earlier (although no sooner than 15:00) for some pre-event mingling.

The gathering is scheduled to conclude around 16:30, after which all attendees are welcome to participate in an informal "Afterwork" / networking event at a nearby pub! 🍻
